Term 3 News Update

Hello readers,   Our names are Charlotte M and Jana. We are going to be filling you in on what we have been working on during the start of Term 3.   Literacy During our Literacy, we have been completing our weekly spelling, reading strategies and several writing techniques. Each day we have been engaging in literacy rotations where each group is reading a different novel. After we have read a chapter, we answer questions about the book. We also have a class novel that we are trying to get through by the end of this Term. We love reading in Room 25!   Maths During our measurement sessions, we have been focusing on measuring capacity, volume area and perimeter. In number, we have been learning how to convert equivalent decimals, fractions and percentages. For example: 1/4 = 25% = 0.25.   HASS During HASS, we have learnt about refugees, migrants, federation and democracy. Term 2 News Update

Term 2 News Update Hello readers, Welcome back to a new term. Our names are Nelia and Amelie, and we will be filling you in on what has been happening so far in Term 2. We are now in Week 4 and we have learnt many things in the areas of of Literacy, Maths, Science and HASS. During our Literacy lessons this week we have been focusing on the suffixes –ion and –ness and the many rules that go with them. There are four rules for adding ‘ion’ and one rule for adding ‘ness’. In reading we’ve been looking at how character traits (for example: bossy, smart, shy, tall, etc) are revealed in narrative texts. In writing, we have been learning how to write a quest narrative using characterisation.  In addition to Literacy is Mathematics. In Measurement, we have been focusing on prism’s and pyramid’s and their differences to each other. We have also been drawing different 3D shapes and expanding our knowledge on their features (such as vertices, edges and faces). In number, we have learnt the method

Term 2 2021 Welcome back Year 6's! I hope you all had a relaxing holiday and are ready for another busy term! Homework will continue to be available each week on the 'Homework Page'. These requirements will need to be completed and returned to school each Monday. Our class assembly, along with Room 11 and 17 is coming up shortly! This will occur on Friday the 7th of May at 8:40am.  The Super Scientist competition is back on...  Term 1 News Update   Hello readers,   Our names are Parth and Charlotte B. We will be sharing with you what has been happening in our class this term. In Room 25, we have learnt many things in the categories of Literacy, Maths, Science and HASS. We have also enjoyed being in a new class with different peers and learning new routines with Miss Lupini.   In Literacy, we have focused on a variety of strategies and techniques in spelling, reading, writing, punctuation and grammar. These strategies have helped us in our overall comprehension and in preparation for our big write every Thursday. We have written many persuasive texts, and we have also looked at information reports and poetry. It has been fun learning how to make our writing better. For persuasive writing, we have learnt the technique of show and tell along with other focuses. Term 1 2021

Term 1 2021 I hope you all had a lovely holiday with your family and friends and ready to start your last year of Primary School! As this is my first year teaching at Wattle Grove Primary, I am really excited to learn from you and be a part of the WGPS community.  This blog will be updated throughout the term, to keep you up to date with what we are learning. Important information will also be posted on the blog.     Homework will be available each week through the 'Homework' page. This will need to be completed and returned to school each  Friday.   A Parent Information Evening will be held on Tuesday the 23rd of February and will provide detailed information regarding the focus concepts for this term and classroom expectations. A note has been sent home detailing the date and time.   On Thursday's, students should wear sport shoes ready to participate in Sport.
